FLOBIT.

Football app to find players, keep score and run tournaments

In short

Flobit is a free football (soccer) app. Post an open match to find players for a 5-, 7- or 11-a-side game nearby, or share a Quick Match code with your regular group. Keep live scores, and let a referee log scorers, assists, cards and substitutions. Run leagues or knockout cups. It works on iPhone, Apple Watch and the web. It doesn't book pitches.

How do I find players for a football game near me?

Post an open match, or join one that a player nearby has posted. It works for a game tonight as well as a regular slot. Filter by today and you will see what is on.

Casual football on Flobit is team play, and you don't need a registered team. The host picks 5-, 7- or 11-a-side, the time and the city or venue, then players join one at a time until both sides are full. The listing shows how many more players are needed. The host also chooses who can join (anyone, men, women or mixed), can set a level range of Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced, and can add a note of up to 280 characters, such as "7-a-side on astroturf, need a goalkeeper, bibs provided". Players tell the host they're interested and the host approves who gets a place. The range is shown on the listing as guidance, and you approve each request.

If you're short of players tonight, post as soon as the pitch is booked and use the note to say exactly what is missing, whether that is a goalkeeper or one more outfield player. If you're the one looking for a game, filter by football and by anytime, today or this week. The list has no level filter, so read each host's range and note first. Search covers 50 km around you by default (anything from 5 to 100 km), and a digest of open matches nearby arrives every day at 10:00. Open matches in detail.

A group that plays every week can skip the listing. Start a Quick Match, share the 8-character code, the QR code or the flobit.app/join link in your group chat, and people join as players or as the referee. Guests don't need an account. A community gives the group a chat, member standings and a top-players podium. Flobit doesn't book pitches. Book through the venue, then post the game.

What football formats and scoring does Flobit support?

Flobit scores football in goals over two halves. You choose the size of the game when you create the match.

FormatPlayers per sideWhere you can play it
5-a-side5Casual matches and tournaments
7-a-side7Casual matches and tournaments
11-a-side11Casual matches and tournaments

One person taps a goal for the scoring side, and undo reverses a mistaken tap. If someone joins the match as the referee, they can also log who scored and who assisted, yellow and red cards (a second yellow becomes a red) and substitutions. The live page shows those events as they happen, so the people who couldn't make it can follow along.

A casual match can end level, or you can record a penalty shootout to settle it. In a league or a group stage a level score counts as a draw, and in a knockout a level score goes to penalties. The IFAB Laws of the Game set an 11-a-side match at two halves of 45 minutes, and allow extra time and penalties to decide a drawn knockout match. Small-sided games are often played under flexible local rules, so agree the house rules before kick-off: how long each half lasts, whether there is offside, and what happens at a throw-in or a kick-in.

On iPhone you get a Live Activity and courtside mode, the Apple Watch app scores offline, and anyone can follow on the public live page. A result confirms automatically after 24 hours, and a casual result can be disputed within that window. See live scoring.

What football level am I?

Pick Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Football has no standard rating ladder like tennis, so Flobit uses plain words. Beginner means new to the game or back after a long break. Intermediate means you play regularly and are comfortable in a casual game. Advanced means you have played competitively, at club, college or semi-pro level. Choose the one you would give a stranger before a game, not the one that matches your best match. Hosts can set a level range on an open match. It is shown as guidance, and the host approves each request.

Flobit also keeps a separate ELO rating for each sport, so your football rating is independent of your other sports. It starts between 900 and 1500 depending on the level you declared, or at 1000 if you declared none. How ratings work explains how it moves.

After a game you can also give the opponents you played against a 1–5 star sportsmanship rating. It is about how someone was to play against, so it is kept apart from skill. You can edit a rating for 48 hours, and it can be hidden. In a regular game, a fair player is worth a lot even when they are not the quickest.

Can I run a football tournament or league in Flobit?

Yes. Create the tournament inside a community. The formats are single elimination, double elimination, a league where every team plays every other once or twice, and group stage plus knockout. A league gives you a standings table that updates as results are confirmed. Group stage plus knockout works like a tournament cup: teams play their group, then the best go into a bracket. For eight teams, a league played once is 28 matches, two groups of four plus semi-finals and a final is 15, and a straight knockout is 7. Tournament formats helps you choose.

Draws are allowed in league and group matches, and a knockout match that ends level goes to penalties. A community also keeps a tournament leaderboard, scored 3/1/0 for a win, a draw and a loss.

Football tournaments need Flobit teams. Each sport has its own team, with a captain, a co-captain and jersey numbers, and the captain enters the team. Each team names its lineup, the players it fields, for its matches. A casual kickabout never needs a registered team.

You can approve entries, keep a waitlist, set categories (Men, Women, Mixed or Open), an age range and a cap of 2 to 512. An entry fee can be shown on the page, but Flobit doesn't collect it, so teams pay you offline. Up to 20 referees can score matches and log cards, the roster can be shared as a WhatsApp or Telegram message, and winners get trophies automatically. A community can run five tournaments at once. See tournaments.

How do I organize a regular game without the WhatsApp chaos?

Move the sign-up out of the chat and keep the chat for the banter. A routine that works:

  1. Fix the slot. Same day, same pitch, same kick-off. Post the game as an open match each week, or start a Quick Match at the pitch.
  2. Cap the numbers. A 5-a-side game needs 10 players, a 7-a-side game 14 and an 11-a-side game 22, plus a spare or two. The listing shows how many more are needed, and you approve players until it is full.
  3. Put what matters in the note. Surface, kit, whether you need a goalkeeper, the fee. Flobit doesn't take payments for pitches or match fees, so collect the fee on the day or between yourselves.
  4. Share one link. Paste the Quick Match link into the WhatsApp group, so the group has one place to join instead of a long thread of maybes.
  5. Rate after the game. You can give the opponents you played against a sportsmanship rating, so a regular group can build up a picture of who plays fair.

Players who keep dropping out are the hardest problem, and the guide to stopping no-shows goes into the fixes. The guide to organizing pickup games covers slots, numbers and costs. Flobit doesn't pick sides for you. When the group is uneven, the fair teams guide shows ways to split it.

No. Flobit doesn't book pitches. It shows pitches and venues near you on a map, with surfaces, reviews and directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or Yandex, and you can suggest a venue that is missing. Book through the venue, then post an open match for that slot to find your players.

What is the difference between 5-a-side and futsal?

Do I need a registered team to play football on Flobit?

Yes. A casual match can end level, and in a league or group stage a level score counts as a draw. In a knockout stage a level score goes to penalties, because a knockout match needs a winner.

Flobit can't make anyone turn up, but it gives you more control than a chat poll. The host approves who gets a place, the note sets expectations, and players can rate the sportsmanship of their opponents after a game. The stop no-shows guide goes into more detail.
