Spond manages teams and clubs rather than draws. Global Tennis Network runs tennis ladders and leagues. Flobit is free and runs elimination, league, group-plus-knockout and Mexicano tournaments with referees, live scoring and trophies. Checked on 11 October 2026.

What is the best app to run a sports tournament?
Start with what kind of tool you need, because these apps fall into three groups.
- Bracket and schedule makers: Challonge, Tournify, Global Tennis Network and TeamSnap's separate Tournaments product. You enter teams or players, choose a format and publish the draw and results.
- Team and club managers: Spond, and TeamSnap's team app. They handle availability, payments, rosters and messages for a team or club.
- Community tournament apps: Flobit, where players find each other, the organizer runs the event inside a community and the scores are kept live.
Pick the group first. A school or club with money to collect may want Tournify or TeamSnap. A group of friends or a tennis club that wants a free bracket may want Challonge or Global Tennis Network. A padel or football community that wants players to join, scores kept live and a trophy at the end fits Flobit.
Which apps make brackets, leagues and schedules?
Challonge. Its help center counts 13 formats, six single-stage, four two-stage and three racing, among them single elimination, double elimination, round robin, Swiss (not a Flobit format), free for all and a leaderboard. Its pricing page, as archived on 11 October 2026, lists a free Standard plan that is ad-supported with up to 256 participants per tournament, and a Premier plan at USD 12 a month or USD 6.99 a month billed yearly.
Tournify. It describes itself as sports tournament and league software with team and player management, combinations of groups and knockouts, drag-and-drop scheduling, referee assignment, online registration "with built-in payment support", and live scores shown on a website and slideshow. Its pricing is per event: free for up to 8 teams, EUR 40 for up to 60 and EUR 120 for unlimited teams, and it also sells yearly plans for organizers running several tournaments. Organizers use the website. Players and fans can follow schedules and standings in Tournify's apps for iPhone and Android, which its paid plans publish.
Global Tennis Network. Built for tennis. A person or club creates a network, then runs ladders, team leagues, tournaments (single or double elimination, first-round consolation, compass or round robin) and events with waitlists. It calculates singles and doubles playing levels from results. Its pricing page says creating ladders, tournaments or events is free, and lists creating your own network among the benefits of premium, which costs around USD 2 a month.
TeamSnap Tournaments. TeamSnap sells a separate Tournaments product for organizers. Its page promises built-in scheduling that supports pools and brackets, auto-generated pools and brackets, and integrated online registration. Pricing is tailored to the organization, so no price is listed.
These tools make the draw. They don't help you find the players to fill it.
Are Spond and TeamSnap tournament apps?
TeamSnap is, through a separate Tournaments product. Spond mainly isn't: it runs a team or club week to week.
Spond calls itself a free app and club-management solution. You schedule events, track RSVPs, put the next sign-ups on a waiting list when an event is full, collect membership fees and event payments, set lineups and chat. Its pages describe events, RSVPs, payments and lineups, not brackets. Its App Store listing is in 24 languages.
TeamSnap targets youth sports teams, clubs and leagues, with registration, payments, rosters, schedules, messaging and live updates. Its listing says a free plan includes core features such as team chat and scheduling, with paid plans for more. For tournaments it sells TeamSnap Tournaments, which its page describes as auto-generating pools and brackets, with scheduling and integrated online registration, priced by quote.
Both are strong when the question is "who is coming, who has paid and where is the match". If the draw is the main job, TeamSnap Tournaments covers it, and a club using Spond may pair it with a bracket tool.
How does Flobit run a tournament?
Flobit is free, and an organizer runs a tournament inside a community. Formats are single elimination, double elimination, a league (round robin, once or twice), group stage plus knockout and Mexicano. Brackets are not seeded by rating.
Entry. Players can join with organizer approval and a waitlist, in pairs by invitation, or as guests, and a captain can enter a team. You can set categories (Men, Women, Mixed or Open), an age range and a cap from 2 to 512 entries.
Running the day. Up to 20 referees keep score live, lineups are supported, and trophies are awarded automatically. You can message the organizer by WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, call or SMS, post a roster message formatted for WhatsApp or Telegram, and add events to a calendar. A community can run up to five tournaments at once and keeps a 3/1/0 leaderboard.
Mexicano (tennis, padel, table tennis and basketball only). Choose the courts and rounds or a club-night preset, play to first N or a combined N, rank by margin or points, plan rounds ahead or draw them from the table, and set partners to random, balanced or never repeated. The organizer can add walk-up guests before the draw, and sit-outs rotate.
What it doesn't do. It doesn't collect entry fees or pay out prizes. An entry fee can be displayed, and players pay the organizer offline. Swiss events, ladders, Americano and King of the Court are not formats you can create in it. It runs on iPhone and the web, with Android coming soon.
Which tournament apps can collect entry fees?
Several can, and Flobit can't.
- Tournify offers online registration with built-in payment support.
- Spond lets you create payment requests within a group.
- TeamSnap lists payments alongside registration and rosters, and its Tournaments page offers integrated online registration.
- Challonge has a help-center article on hosting paid tournaments, and its pricing page lists Stripe integration for paid registration.
- Challengers, in Baku, says in its terms that a tournament entry fee can be paid by card when the organizer turns that on.
Flobit takes no payments for entry fees or prizes. If you need to collect money inside the app, use one of the others for registration and run the event on Flobit, or collect fees yourself by bank transfer or cash, as most amateur organizers already do.
What about padel nights and tournaments in Baku?
Padel Americano and Mexicano nights have their own tools, which the best padel apps compares: dedicated generators, Playtomic Manager for clubs, and Flobit's Mexicano and free Americano generator.
In Baku, Challengers and Book & Play list tournaments that venues and organizers publish, with waitlists and brackets, and the players enter. Flobit is the option for organizing your own. See the best sports apps in Azerbaijan for the local picture.
How do I choose a tournament app?
Five questions settle it.
- How many teams or players? Free plans have caps: Tournify's free tier is 8 teams per event, Challonge's Standard plan 256 participants, Flobit 2 to 512 entries.
- Do you need to collect money? If yes, pick Tournify, Challonge, Spond, TeamSnap or Challengers, not Flobit.
- Do players need to find you? Bracket makers publish a draw. Flobit also lets players discover and join events and open matches.
- Do you want live scoring? Flobit scores point by point for tennis and padel, by game, set or clock for the other sports, with referees. Tournify also lists live scores.
- Is it one event or a season? Tournify sells per-event and yearly plans, and Challonge sells monthly and yearly plans. Flobit's communities keep leagues and standings between events.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best free app to run a sports tournament?
It depends on size and sport. Flobit is free and runs elimination, league, group-plus-knockout and Mexicano events with referees and live scores. Challonge has a free ad-supported plan for up to 256 participants, Tournify is free for up to 8 teams, and Global Tennis Network is free for tennis ladders and leagues.
What app makes a tournament bracket?
Challonge and Tournify make brackets for any sport, and Global Tennis Network does it for tennis. Flobit builds single and double elimination brackets inside a community, with players who join in the app and referees who enter scores. TeamSnap sells a Tournaments product that generates pools and brackets, while Spond manages teams rather than draws.
Can I run a round-robin league in an app?
Yes. Challonge, Tournify and Global Tennis Network all list round robin. Flobit runs a league as a round robin played once or twice, with standings, and group stage plus knockout. For a printable schedule, the free round-robin generator on this site builds the rounds.
Are Spond and TeamSnap good for tournaments?
TeamSnap can be, through its separate Tournaments product, which its page describes as auto-generating pools and brackets with scheduling and online registration, priced by quote. Spond is built to run a team or club: events, RSVPs, payments and lineups. Its pages don't describe brackets, so a club may pair it with a bracket tool for the draw.
Can Flobit collect entry fees?
No. Flobit takes no payments for entry fees or prizes. An organizer can display an entry fee, and players pay the organizer offline, by cash or transfer. Tournify, Challonge, Spond, TeamSnap and Challengers list ways to collect fees online, so use one of them if you need to collect fees online.
Which tournament formats does Flobit support?
Single elimination, double elimination, league (round robin, once or twice), group stage plus knockout, and Mexicano (for tennis, padel, table tennis and basketball). Swiss events, ladders, Americano and King of the Court are not formats you can create in the app, and brackets are not seeded by rating. Challonge lists Swiss, which is not a Flobit format, and Global Tennis Network runs ladders.
Can I run a tournament with live scores and referees?
On Flobit, yes. An organizer can assign up to 20 referees who keep score live, and trophies are awarded automatically. Tournify also lists scorekeeping with live updates on a website and slideshow, and TeamSnap's Tournaments page mentions updating scores, pools and brackets from your phone.
