Which app is best for finding a tennis partner?
Three things decide it: where you live, how you want to find people and what you will pay.
- Someone to hit with: TennisPAL, PlayYourCourt, Kort or Flobit.
- A rating and league play: UTR Sports, USTA Flex (in the US) or Global Tennis Network for ladders and leagues that a club or group runs.
- A court booked: Playtomic at its partner clubs, or your own club's system.
- Live scoring and your own events: Flobit.
- Tennis in Baku: Challengers, covered in the best sports apps in Azerbaijan.
Every one of these apps is only as useful as the number of players near you who use it, and several are built around the United States. Open an app and look for matches in your area before you pay for anything.
Which apps are made for finding a hitting partner?
Three are built mainly for this.
TennisPAL. Its listing says you can find tennis players near you, match on skill level, age, availability and proximity, chat in the app and find courts with directions. The free version limits you to one FindPAL search a day and one new chat every four hours. Its website lists Premium at USD 4.99 a month or USD 49.99 a year, with unlimited messaging, the full search criteria and a Court Finder without the 5-mile limit, and Gold at USD 99 a year with an ad-free experience.
PlayYourCourt. Its listing says it helps you find partners for practice and matches at local courts, singles or doubles. Its website adds lessons from coaches, a video library for members, a rating and a flexible bracket league. Its App Store listing offers paid memberships: USD 7.99 monthly, USD 59.99 yearly and a PLUS tier at USD 119.99, as read on the US App Store.
Kort. You enter your level and location and it shows suitable players nearby, with open invitations that others can join, challenges and tournaments. Its listing says it uses algorithms to suggest matches, and that Premium adds a partner profile for coaches and unrestricted discovery. The app is in English and Turkish.
All three are about tennis. They suit a player who wants a name and a time, rather than a score, a league or a bracket.
Which apps give you a rating, a league or a ladder?
UTR Sports calls itself a platform for tennis with "global rating systems, level-based play, leagues, teams and analytics". You can find players at your level, post scores and enter events such as Flex Leagues and team tennis. Joining is free, and its home page lists a Power membership at USD 120 for more rating insights and analytics.
USTA Flex is the United States Tennis Association's app for adult leagues. Its listing says leagues run for 8 to 12 weeks as a round-robin or "ladder 2.0", and you arrange the matches yourself in chat. It places you with the ITF World Tennis Number, which runs from 40 for beginners to 1 for pros. Its leagues are in the US.
Global Tennis Network is software rather than a partner finder: a person or club creates a network, then runs ladders, team leagues, tournaments and events with waitlists, and players get calculated singles and doubles levels. Its pricing page says creating ladders, tournaments or events is free, and lists creating your own network among the benefits of premium, which costs around USD 2 a month.
None of these ratings is interchangeable. NTRP, UTR, the World Tennis Number, Challengers' CRX and Flobit's ELO are built differently, so a number in one means little in another. The tennis levels guide compares them.
How does Flobit help you find a tennis partner?
Flobit is free and works for tennis alongside seven other sports. A host posts an open match with the sport, rules, time and a city or venue, chooses who can join (anyone, men, women or mixed) and can set a level range. Players within 50 km by default (5 to 100) ask to join, and the host approves each one. A Quick Match code, QR code or link fills a game from your own group chat, and guests don't need an account.
Your level is self-declared from 1.0 to 7.0 in USTA NTRP wording, and a per-sport ELO then moves with confirmed results. There is no automatic matching and no level filter when browsing: the host's range is shown on the listing as guidance, and the host approves each request.
Tennis scoring is point by point: singles or doubles, best of three or five sets, advantage or no-ad, a tiebreak at 6-6 and a full final set or a super tiebreak. It has undo, spoken score calls in five languages, Apple Watch scoring that works offline and a public live page. You can run a bracket, league or group stage as a tournament. More in Flobit for tennis.
What it doesn't do: it doesn't book courts, and as a newer app an open match in your area fills only as fast as people near you use it.
Can any of these apps book a tennis court?
Playtomic can. Its home page lists tennis courts alongside padel and pickleball (pickleball is coming soon on Flobit), and you book at partner clubs, though the clubs in your area decide whether that helps. Its terms say a service fee is charged when a booking or public match is confirmed, which varies by country, and that a club may cover it. See Flobit vs Playtomic.
Challengers books tennis and padel courts at partner venues in Baku.
TennisPAL has a court finder with directions, and Flobit has a venue map with courts, surfaces and directions, but neither books them. For a public court, you may only need the address.
How do I choose a tennis partner app?
Four questions narrow it down quickly.
- Which country are you in? USTA Flex is for US adults. Kort is in English and Turkish. Challengers is for Baku. UTR, Playtomic and Flobit are not tied to a country, but each depends on local players.
- Do you want a rating? If you want an official-style number, UTR or USTA's tools. If you want a level that moves with your results across several sports, Flobit.
- Do you want to organize something? Global Tennis Network runs ladders, leagues and tournaments for a group, and Flobit runs brackets, leagues and group stages with live scoring.
- What will you pay? Flobit and Global Tennis Network are free to use, and USTA Flex is a free download. Flobit's App Store listing shows optional supporter tips that unlock no features, and Global Tennis Network sells a premium at around USD 2 a month. TennisPAL, Kort, UTR and PlayYourCourt have paid memberships.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best app to find tennis partners?
It depends on where you live. TennisPAL, PlayYourCourt and Kort are built for finding hitting partners. UTR Sports and USTA Flex add ratings and leagues. Flobit is free and lets a host post an open match for tennis and seven other sports. The best one is the app with active players near you.
Is there a free app to find a tennis partner?
Yes. Flobit is free, with no ads and no subscription. UTR Sports is free to join, USTA Flex is a free download, and Global Tennis Network is free to use. TennisPAL has a free version limited to one search a day and one new chat every four hours, and a paid Premium.
Which tennis apps use NTRP levels?
The USTA Tennis app shows your USTA NTRP rating and a self-rate tool, according to its listing. Flobit's self-declared level runs from 1.0 to 7.0 in USTA NTRP wording, but it is a level you choose and then a per-sport ELO that moves with results, not an official USTA rating.
Can I find a tennis partner outside the US?
Yes, but check where each app has players. USTA Flex is for US leagues. UTR Sports describes a global platform. Kort is in English and Turkish, Challengers serves Baku, and Flobit, made in Baku, works anywhere players use it. Open each app's matches near you before relying on it.
Does Flobit match me with a tennis partner automatically?
No. A host posts an open match and approves who joins, and you can browse by sport and by time (today or this week). There is no automatic matching and no level filter when browsing, and the host's level range is shown on the listing as guidance while the host approves each request. Quick Match codes fill a game from your own group.
Can I book a tennis court with Flobit?
No. Flobit doesn't book courts or take payments for them. It has a venue map with courts, surfaces and reviews and gives directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze and Yandex. Reserve with your club or a booking app such as Playtomic, then post an open match for that time on Flobit.
Can I run a tennis tournament or ladder in an app?
Global Tennis Network runs ladders, team leagues and tournaments for a group. Flobit runs single or double elimination, a league, or a group stage plus knockout for free, with live scoring, referees and trophies, but not ladders. USTA Flex and UTR Sports run their own leagues for players to enter.
