Free padel Mexicano generator with scores and leaderboard

In short

A Mexicano is a padel format where players enter individually, change partners every round, and after a random first round are paired by the leaderboard: on each court of four, the 1st-ranked player partners the 4th against the 2nd and 3rd. This free generator draws round 1, takes your scores, ranks the players and draws every next round for 4 to 32 players.

What is a Mexicano in padel, and is it played in doubles?

A Mexicano is always doubles: four players per court, two against two. Each player enters on their own, has a new partner every round, and scores for themselves. The first round is a random draw or set by level. After that, the standings decide who plays with and against whom, so the draw isn't printed in advance.

The difference from an Americano is the draw. An Americano is a fixed schedule you can print before the first serve. A Mexicano re-pairs players from the current standings after every round, which is why Padel Browser describes it as keeping every match competitive even when the group has a wide gap in level. The Mexicano guide explains the format in full, and the Americano generator builds the fixed version.

Some AI answers describe Mexicano as three players taking turns at singles. That is wrong: it is doubles.

How do I run a Mexicano with this generator?

List your players, one per line, from 4 to 32, or choose a number and press Fill in names. Then set:

  • Courts, from 1 to 8. One court seats four players, so 8 players fill 2 courts and 12 fill 3.
  • Rounds, from 1 to 30. Most evenings use 5 to 8.
  • Match ends. First to N ends when a side reaches N points. Scores add up to N ends when the two scores total N, so every match is the same length. A combined target must be an even number, so a level result is possible.
  • First round. Random draw, or In the order entered, where you put the strongest players first.
  • Leaderboard by. Points scored or Win margin.

Press Start round 1. Each court shows its two teams with a box for each side's score. Type the scores as matches finish. The leaderboard updates as you type, and Draw round 2 switches on when every court has a score that fits the match rule. If you make a mistake, Undo last round goes back one round and Start over returns to the form.

Each score is checked against your rule. With first to 17, 15–12 is flagged as not finished, 17–17 can't happen and 18–12 is over the target.

How does the generator pair players after round one?

It ranks everybody by the leaderboard and fills the courts from the top, four at a time. Ranks 1 to 4 go to court 1, ranks 5 to 8 to court 2, and so on. On each court the 1st-ranked player partners the 4th against the 2nd and the 3rd. Padel Browser gives the same pattern: the leader with #4 and #2 with #3 on court one, #5 with #8 and #6 with #7 on court two.

The reason is balance: putting the top two together would make one side far stronger. Pairing 1st with 4th and 2nd with 3rd keeps both sides close.

Other organizers split the four differently, for example 1st with 3rd against 2nd with 4th. This tool uses 1+4 against 2+3, as in Flobit's Mexicano guide. Round 1 uses the same split on its starting order. Nothing stops two players from being partners again later, since each round follows the table.

How is the leaderboard scored and how are ties broken?

Every player takes their side's points onto their own total. The leaderboard shows rank, points, margin and matches played, and ranks by whichever measure you chose:

Points scoredWin margin
What you addEvery point your side winsPoints won minus points lost in the match
A 17–12 matchWinners +17, losers +12Winners +5, losers −5
Can a total go down?NoYes, below zero
Best forRewarding every point, kinder to newer playersRewarding clear wins

If two players are level on the main measure, the other measure breaks the tie, and if they are still level a fixed random draw does, made once at the start so the table doesn't change when you reload. Pick the one that suits your night and tell the group before round one.

What happens if the players don't divide by four?

Players who don't fit on a court sit out, and the sit-outs rotate. Anyone who sat out more often than the others is first to play next, then the better-ranked players, so nobody sits out twice before everybody has sat out once. With 10 players on 2 courts, two sit out each round. With 5 players on 1 court, one does.

Players who have played fewer matches have lower totals, so the leaderboard also shows matches played. Where you can, pick a number of rounds that gives everyone the same number of sit-outs.

Can I print, copy or open the scores in Excel?

Yes. Print gives a clean page with the leaderboard and every round with its scores. Copy for WhatsApp puts the rounds and the leaderboard on your clipboard as plain text. Download CSV saves every match with its two scores, a row for each group of players resting, and then the leaderboard, ready for Excel or Google Sheets. The file starts with a UTF-8 byte order mark so non-Latin names display correctly. It uses a semicolon in Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish and Spanish, where Excel usually expects one.

Everything runs in your browser. There is no login, and the names and scores you type are not sent to Flobit.

What does Flobit add if I run the Mexicano in the app?

Flobit runs Mexicano as a tournament format for tennis, padel, table tennis, basketball, badminton and pickleball, inside a community. The app keeps live scores and the leaderboard for you. The web generator keeps neither once you close the page, and it draws each round only from the table.

The app also lets you plan every round in advance with no repeat partners, balance partners by skill ratings only you see, assign referees, add walk-up guests before the draw, and swap two players before a round. See Flobit tournaments for every option. Use this generator for a free, no-login night on paper or a phone, and the bracket maker for a knockout.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Mexicano in padel?

A Mexicano is a padel format in which players enter individually and change partners every round. Round one is random or set by level, then the leaderboard decides who plays with whom, so players with similar totals share a court. Every point you win goes on your own total, and the highest total wins.

How does Mexicano pairing work?

Rank the players by the leaderboard and fill the courts from the top, four at a time. On each court the 1st-ranked player partners the 4th against the 2nd and 3rd. So ranks 1 to 4 go on court 1 and ranks 5 to 8 on court 2, with 5th and 8th against 6th and 7th.

How many players does a Mexicano need?

At least four, which is one court. This generator takes 4 to 32 players on 1 to 8 courts. A number that divides by four fills every court. Otherwise the extra players sit out, and the sit-outs rotate so nobody rests twice before everyone has rested once.

Is a Mexicano played in doubles or singles?

Doubles. Four players share each court, two against two, and partners change every round. Only the scoring is individual: each player takes their side's points onto their own total. It is not three players taking turns at singles.

Should the leaderboard use points or win margin?

Points scored adds every point your side wins, so a close loss still counts and totals never go down. Win margin adds points won minus points lost, so clear wins are rewarded and totals can go below zero. Neither is better; announce your choice before round one.

Is the Mexicano generator free, and does it need a login?

It is free, has no ads and needs no account. It runs in your browser, and the names and scores you type are not sent anywhere. You can print the results, copy them as text or download a CSV for Excel.

Does Flobit run Mexicano tournaments?

Yes, for tennis, padel, table tennis, basketball, badminton and pickleball. In the app you choose courts and rounds, how a match ends, the leaderboard, and whether rounds are planned ahead or drawn from the table. Scores are live and the leaderboard updates itself. This web tool draws each round from the table only.
