How do I find padel players in Saudi Arabia beyond the WhatsApp group?
In short
Most Saudi players start in a city WhatsApp group (قروب بادل), then add club contacts and booking apps such as Playtomic or Malaeb. A fourth route is a Flobit open match: you post the time and place, nearby players ask to join, and you approve each one. You can set the game to anyone, men, women or mixed.
Why do Saudi padel players use WhatsApp groups, and where do they fall short?
Because a group is free, instant and full of people who already play. In Saudi Arabia the search is for the group itself. On 2 November 2026, Google's Arabic suggestions for "قروب بادل" listed Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Dammam, Madinah, Abha and Khobar, and "بادل جدة" completed with "بادل جدة قروب". People are not searching for a "partner". They are searching for a group in their city.
A good group is hard to beat. You ask "who is free at 10 pm?" and four people answer. The weak points show up when a group grows:
- Messages scroll away. A call for a fourth player at 6 pm is buried by 7 pm.
- Nobody keeps the record. The group doesn't remember who agreed to which game, what level it was for, or who didn't show.
- Levels are guesswork. "Intermediate" means different things to different people, and the first message rarely says it.
- Joining takes an introduction. Many groups add you only if you know someone in them.
None of this means you should leave your groups. The better idea is to keep the group for chat and put the actual game somewhere with a time, a place and a clear list of who is in. Flobit's open matches are built for that, and you can share a match link straight into the group.
Where else can I find padel players today?
Besides WhatsApp and Telegram groups, there are club contacts, booking apps with public matches, and the federation for official events. Here is how the main apps describe themselves on the Saudi App Store, with their rating counts on 2 November 2026. A rating count is a rough sign of use, not a quality score.
| Option | What its listing says | Saudi App Store (2 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Club reception and club groups | Many clubs run their own groups; ask at the desk | Not an app |
| Playtomic | Find players, create private or public matches at a club, book courts and split the fee, join leagues and tournaments | 966 ratings, 4.8 |
| Malaeb (ملاعب) | Connect with people, form teams, organize matches, book venues | 241 ratings, 3.6; English listing |
| Golato (قولاتو) | Book a court, or "join a game" if you have no team | 262 ratings, 4.1; English listing |
| Sinjab (سنجاب) | Find and book racket-sport clubs in Saudi Arabia and the UAE | 83 ratings, 3.5; Arabic and English listing |
| Saudi Padel Federation app | Register for the federation's official tournaments and follow results | 9 ratings, 4.7 |
Be fair to these apps. If you need a court booked, they do it and Flobit doesn't. Playtomic's listing describes matches created at a club. The comparison of padel apps and the Flobit vs Playtomic page go deeper.
Where Flobit differs: you post a game first and can add the court later, and the same app runs your tournaments. Like Playtomic's open matches, a Flobit game can be limited to women or men. Flobit is also much newer, so expect fewer listings than a large booking app has.
How do open matches work in Flobit?
The host posts a game, nearby players ask to join, and the host approves who plays. Flobit never places strangers in a game automatically.
- Post the match. Choose padel and the format, such as doubles with the golden point. Add the date and time, the city and, if you have one, the club. The city is required and the venue is optional.
- Choose who can see it and who can join. Public or followers only, and anyone, men, women or mixed.
- Write a short note. Up to 280 characters, for example "Friendly doubles, need a fourth, relaxed pace". The note can't hold links or phone numbers.
- Players ask to join. In doubles they can say whether they want to partner you or play against you.
- You approve. Approved players are in the match and it goes into their calendar.
Players see listings within 50 km of their location by default, and they can set the radius anywhere from 5 to 100 km. They can filter by sport and by anytime, today or this week. There is no level filter, so the level range and the note on the listing are what a player reads. At 10:00 each day Flobit can send a digest of open matches nearby.
Guests without an account can't join open matches. They exist in Quick Match and in tournaments only. If you already know all four players, start a Quick Match instead. The full detail is on the open matches page.
Flobit does not book the court. Book it with the club, then post the match for that slot.
Can I make a game women-only, men-only or mixed?
Yes. When you post, "who can join" has four choices: anyone, men, women or mixed. In a women-only or men-only game, only players whose profile has that gender set can ask to join, and a player who left the question blank can't. Mixed is for mixed-gender games: it doesn't block any one player, and you decide who plays on which side.
This is a setting of the app. Flobit can't tell you whether a club has a women-only session, and it does not check anyone's identity, so don't read the setting as a guarantee of anything beyond the profile information. Ask the club about its own rules, and agree the details in chat.
Searches for women's padel are common in Saudi cities. The Arabic suggestions for "بادل نسائي" on 2 November 2026 included Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Dammam, Madinah, Khobar, Abha, Hail and Unaizah. The women's padel guide covers women-only sessions, tournaments and how to run an Americano or Mexicano night for women.
How do levels and etiquette work when I play with strangers?
Say your level honestly, put the details in the listing and tell the host early if your plans change. A few habits make a stranger game go well.
Levels. In padel, Flobit uses a self-declared scale from 1.0 to 7.0, written in the LTA's padel wording. A host can show a level range on a listing, for example 3.0 to 4.0. It is guidance only. Flobit does not block anyone from asking to join, and the host decides by approving each request. Read what the padel levels mean before you pick yours, and pick lower if you are unsure.
Etiquette checklist:
- Write the start time, the club, the format and the pace in the note.
- Confirm the exact time in chat once the game is full.
- Agree who pays what for the court. Flobit doesn't handle payments, so settle it between you.
- If you can't make it, tell the host at once and cancel, so the spot can go to someone else.
- Be on time and play to the pace the host described.
After the game. Confirm the result, and rate each other's sportsmanship from 1 to 5 stars. You can edit that rating for 48 hours. No-shows are a common frustration in group games, and the guide to stopping no-shows lists what works.
What should I do if there are no games near me yet?
Post the first one yourself. Flobit is new in Saudi Arabia, so a nearby search may come back empty. Widen the radius, then post a specific game: a named club, a real time and a pace in the note. Share the match link in your WhatsApp groups to bring players in.
The app is in English, Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani and Spanish, not Arabic, and its buttons are in English.
Where to look first, by city, with the federation's recent events as a guide to where padel is busy:
- Riyadh area. The third federation ranking tournament was held in Diriyah in May 2026 (more than 380 players).
- Jeddah. The fifth ranking tournament (526 players, from September 2026) and the sixth (446 players, at Padel District, reported ended in October 2026) were both held in the city.
- Dammam and Khobar. The fourth ranking tournament took place at The Social Club in Khobar in July 2026, with 372 players.
These events show that players in those cities are active. They don't tell you how many use Flobit. For the tournaments themselves, see our guide to padel tournaments in Saudi Arabia.
Posting a friendly game is one thing. If you plan to run a private tournament in Saudi Arabia, the federation says in a notice dated 17 June 2026 that you need its licence first: apply at least 20 days ahead, and get approval before you announce the event or open registration. The same guide explains it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a padel group in Riyadh or Jeddah?
Ask at your club's reception, search for «قروب بادل» with your city name, and ask the people you meet at the courts to add you. Google's Arabic suggestions list city groups for Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Khobar and others. You can also post an open match in Flobit and share its link in the group.
What is the best app to find padel players in Saudi Arabia?
It depends on what you need. Playtomic, Malaeb, Golato and Sinjab are built around booking courts, and Playtomic and Malaeb also describe finding players or matches. Flobit is for posting a game, approving who joins and running tournaments, but it does not book courts. Many players use a booking app and Flobit together.
How do open matches work in Flobit?
The host posts the sport, rules, time and city or venue. Players within 50 km (you can set 5 to 100 km) ask to join, and the host approves each one. You can set who can join to anyone, men, women or mixed, add a level range as guidance and write a 280-character note.
Can I set a padel game for women only?
Yes. Set who can join to women, and only players whose profile says they are women can ask to join. The same works for men-only games. It is an app setting, not a check of identity or of a club's own rules.
Does Flobit match players by level automatically?
No. Flobit does not match players automatically. The host can show a level range, but it is guidance only, there is no level filter when browsing, and the host approves each request. Levels are self-declared, from 1.0 to 7.0 for padel.
Can I use Flobit to book a padel court in Saudi Arabia?
No. Flobit does not book courts or take payments for them. Book with the club or a booking app, then post an open match for that time. The app's map shows courts near you with directions, and you can suggest a venue that is missing.
Is Flobit free, and is it in Arabic?
Flobit is free to use and has no ads. Flobit Plus is an optional subscription for advanced stats and a Plus badge. The app is on iPhone, Apple Watch and the web at flobit.app, and is not in Arabic. It is in English, Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani and Spanish. Android is coming soon.
